I'm getting into retro gameing and plan on buying a colecovision... one with an atari adaptor , I still have a few atari games... do I need atari controllers ????

I'm the same way. It's an "issue" with us older gamers  I'm currently sating my retro needs by building my own home arcade.

I had a C64 it was takeing care of my retro gameing needs but it took a shit on me.... I didn't pay a lot for it so I can't realy complane....
