I am interested in this as well, hopefully the power management is much better and the external power brick is smaller or better yet inside the XBOX using a better switching power supply.

First post was almost certainly a spam bot, Andre, they got you again!
But yea, the new 360 apparently still has the red ring of death issue and a large external power brick. The red ring of death issue had been mitigated somewhat, as it was an overheating problem, by them moving to a smaller fabrication process. However, now they put the parts in a smaller box, somewhat undoing the progress they had made. However, they implemented a fail-safe on the new 360 slim so that when it determines it's about to fail, it automatically shuts off and waits to cool down before it will turn on again.
Sounds like an unnecessary stupid update to me, especially since it's not that much smaller and doesn't look any cooler...

Well, for those who do not already own an XBox 360, the slim model includes a WiFi adapter. That is a $100 savings if one can buy the new model for the same price as the otherwise equivalent old one.

When I get some time, I am going to track down every single spammer, make a list, drive to each of their houses and beat their ass -- just like Jay and Silent Bob

Good point, I forgot about that.
Still, any legit gamer would not be using wifi unless they were strictly limited to playing viva pinata online. Someone turns on a blender or dryer and omgz no signal

What's funny is these spambots are getting smarter and smarter, pretty soon we will really be talking to them as though they were another member in the forum... Hopefully they're the kind that will gather lots of info on the internet and can answer all of our questions!

I am actually upset that Microsoft, Apple, Sony, etc. are just rehashing the same crap over and over with features that they should have had originally. Take the iPhone, it's the same as an iPod with a touch screen and phone capabilities. We've had mobile phones and touch screens for the past 9 years, why did it take Apple the last 4 to release it?
I honestly hope Microsoft will let the 360 DIE just like Sony let the PS1 die. New technology come with new and better consoles. Hopefully the same applise.

You have a good point newbiz. I feel like I *don't* want to buy anything new right now just because I know that 6-12 months later it's going to be re-released in a slimmer and more functional package for the same price.
I think these constant redesigns and re-releases just hamper consumer confidence. Why can't they just give us a nice and slim and functional product at the beginning?

Almost certainly it takes more engineering time and resources to make something smaller/more compact, better looking and more practical.
